“Clean Air and Consciences”
California has passed new emission standards aimed at a 75% reduction in air pollution by 2025, by pushing hybrid and electric cars. Not only will they reduce smog by up to 75%, there will also be a 34% reduction in hybrid snobbery and electric smugness.
Because ‘smug’ and ‘snob’ equals ‘smog.’

“The New Car Pool” or “Fuel for Thought”
Students from Virginia Tech University won a U.S. Department of Energy contest by engineering a Chevy that gets 82 miles per gallon. The students could also get a huge cash prize, if they accept Big Oil’s offer to destroy the eco-technology.
For the students, it’s the best of both worlds: they are good mechanics, but they’re still nerds.
Students from Ohio State , and U. of Waterloo, Ontario came in 2nd and 3rd place for their eco-car innovations. Last place went to a community college, whose only fuel-efficiency modification to their car was to paint it red.

“Electric Powerless”
A USA Today/Gallup poll says that 6 out of 10 Americans say they won’t buy an electric car no matter how high gas prices go. Economics experts say that’s not smart, especially since they admitted it right in front of Big Oil.

“Driving Fuel Economy”
http://content.usatoday.com/communities/driveon/post/2010/09/60-mpg-required-by-2025---/1
The Obama administration is proposing new auto fuel efficiency rules for the future this week that may require car companies to meet an average standard of 60 miles to the gallon by the year 2025. Automakers’ plan so far: drive a car that gets 30 mpg halfway to your destination and walk the rest of the way.
Car companies will be forced to make more hybrids, develop efficient electric plug-ins, and will unveil their long anticipated Wile E. Coyote super-rubber-band cars.
Due to some confusion, engineers are now desperately trying to figure out how to make an entirely electric car use up a gallon of gasoline after 60 miles.
