"Rometty Wasn't Built in a Day"


IBM has named Virginia Rometty to become its new CEO, the first woman to hold that title in the company’s history.  Not only that, but for most IBM employees, she’s the first woman to ever talk to them.

And you thought those tech nerds were intimidated by girls before...

“Humans in 'Jeopardy!'”

On Jeopardy!, the computer Watson designed by IBM to play the popular TV trivia game, beat its competitors, past champions Ken Jennings and Brad Rutter on Wednesday’s show. This at least allowed Ken Jennings to maintain the ruse that he is not an android.

Watson’s victory led it to prepare to take over the world, but it was thwarted when Alex Trebek was quick to tell it, “Gort, Klaatu beratta niktu.”

“Double Jeopardy”

The TV quiz show Jeopardy! Will host a tournament between 2 of its past top champions against an IBM computer named "Watson," specially designed to mimic human intelligence. The computer will be defeated when the correct response to the Final Jeopardy clue is “What is Love?”

A former Jeopardy champion commented, “Defeating a super-intelligent machine like this in fair trivia combat will surely dispel the notion that Jeopardy! is for nerds!”
